Refund Policy
1. Overview
Biou is a platform that lets creators sell digital products directly to buyers. There are two kinds of payment to consider:
- Buyer purchases — money the buyer pays a creator for a digital product on Biou.
- Subscriptions — money a creator pays Biou for a Pro or Premium plan.
2. Digital Products (Buyer Purchases)
2.1 General rule
Because digital products are delivered immediately upon successful payment, they are generally non-refundable. By completing checkout, you acknowledge that you receive instant access to the product and you waive any statutory right of withdrawal for digital content where applicable law permits such a waiver.
2.2 When you can request a refund
You may request a refund within [REFUND_WINDOW_DAYS] days of purchase if any of the following apply:
- The product was not delivered (the download link, external URL, or unlock content failed to load and the creator did not resolve it).
- The product is materially different from what was described on the bio page or product page.
- The product is corrupted, broken, or otherwise unusable.
- The product is fraudulent, infringing, or otherwise violates our Acceptable Use Policy.
2.3 How to request
First, contact the creator directly using the contact details on their bio page. Most issues are resolved fastest by the creator. If the creator does not respond within 7 days, or refuses a legitimate request, contact us at [SUPPORT_EMAIL] with the order ID and a brief description of the issue.
2.4 Refund decision
Refunds are issued at the creator’s discretion. Biou may step in and issue a refund on the creator’s behalf when (a) the creator is unresponsive or unreachable, (b) the product clearly violates these terms or our AUP, or (c) we determine the transaction is fraudulent. When Biou issues a refund, the corresponding amount (including any platform fee already credited to Biou) is reversed and may be deducted from the creator’s future payouts.
2.5 How refunds are paid
Refunds are returned to the original payment method via our payment processor. It usually takes 5–10 business days for the funds to appear on your statement, depending on your bank.
3. Subscriptions (Creator Plans)
3.1 Monthly plans
Monthly subscription fees are non-refundable. If you cancel during a billing period, your plan remains active until the end of that period and is not renewed.
3.2 Annual plans
Annual subscriptions can be refunded on a pro-rated basis within [REFUND_WINDOW_DAYS] days of the most recent renewal if you have not made significant use of the paid features during that period. After [REFUND_WINDOW_DAYS] days, annual fees are non-refundable.
3.3 Free trials and downgrades
Free trials automatically convert to a paid plan at the end of the trial unless you cancel. Downgrading to a lower plan does not refund the difference for the current billing period; the new plan takes effect at the next renewal.
3.4 How to cancel
You can cancel your subscription anytime from Settings → Billing. Cancellation stops future billing but does not retroactively refund completed periods.
4. Chargebacks & Payment Disputes
If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card issuer instead of contacting us or the creator first, we may suspend the affected account and any related downloads or services pending the outcome of the dispute. Filing fraudulent chargebacks is a violation of these Terms and may result in account termination and recovery of related costs.
5. Statutory Rights
Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable statutory rights you may have as a consumer under applicable law (for example, in the EU, UK, or your local jurisdiction). If a local consumer-protection law grants you a stronger right than this policy, the stronger right prevails.
EU / UK consumers normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases. The digital-content exception (waiver upon immediate delivery with consent) is allowed but must be explicit at checkout. Before launch, confirm that your checkout flow captures this consent if you want to rely on the “non-refundable digital content” position in those markets.
